Fine Gael appoints new Deputy Director of Communications
Former Defence Forces Press Officer, Commandant Feargal Purcell, has today (Monday) taken up the position of Deputy Director of Communications with Fine Gael.
A native of Kilkenny, Feargal moves from the military to the political sphere after 18 years of service in the Defence Forces, the last two and half years of which he spent in the Press Office.
During this time he worked to ensure a fair and balanced representation of the Defence Forces in all media outlets. His service included four tours of duty overseas, including missions in Lebanon and Bosnia.
Feargal will be based in the Fine Gael Press Office in Leinster House.
Commenting on the appointment, Fine Gael Leader, Enda Kenny TD, said:
“I’d like to welcome Feargal to the Fine Gael communications team and wish him all the best as he joins us from the Defence Forces. I know that Feargal will bring a sense of enthusiasm and a range of different experiences to the job. As Fine Gael prepares itself for the upcoming Local and European Elections, and the next General Election whenever that may happen, the addition of Feargal to our team in the press office is a clear sign of our intention to be ready for all the challenges that lie ahead of us.”
An interesting appointment in these yogurty times.
