I have been watching the slow news feed regarding Prop 8 in California. For those of you unaware of what Prop 8 is, basically it is a constitutional ammendment to the Californian constitution reimposing a ban on same-sex marriage. The usual suspects are for this proposition citing ‘family values’, ‘marriage as an instituion of society’ etc etc etc. Last week, the campaign took a twist when Brad Pitt (the actor – like who else!?!) gave a fist load of money towards the campaign. Mulley brought this link to my attention. I was quite taken aback by the contents of the link, but It did bring about that feel good feeling that is needed. Yes of course Prop 8 should not be passed. It is ridicilious to even think that it should have even got this far. However we can wait and see about when the vote happens. Then we shall wait and see how our own Civil Partnership Bill progresses or not.

You had me scared there. I read that as Brad Pitt giving money to the anti-gay crowd.
Phew!

I have to admit, when I looked at the link and read that this priest was with the “Saint Paul Newman Center”, I thought it was an Onion-style satire of those pastors who used their pulpits to agitate against homosexuals. Seems to be real, though–a university ministry.
Great news that Ireland is also considering recognition of same-sex partnerships.
Incidentally your internal links to earlier articles about the Civil Partnership Bill seem to be broken.
